About Canal City
Overview
Canal City is a subdivision located in the peaceful coastal town of Gilchrist, Texas, on Bolivar Peninsula. Every one of the 500 (?) lots is situated directly on one of the three 1-mile-long canals. Canal City lies just 100 yards from the Gulf of Mexico on it's southern border and it's canals empty into a waterway to the north, leading into Galveston Bay, the third most productive estuary in the United States.
Governance
The Canal City Property Owner's Association, the oldest on the penninsula, is governed by a seven-member Executive Committee that is active in maintaining the community and developing and implementing a vision for the future. Our Annual General Meeting is held the fourth weekend in July and all members are encouraged to attend.
